Before I met my wife, I had been desiring to know God in a whole new way. Our first few months dating, I knew the Lord was calling me to big adventures that would require me to be very courageous. To be an adventure seeker we have to be willing to overcome fear.
The last time I was by a horse I could barely touch it due to fear. Before our honeymoon, my wife had wanted an adventure to do horseback riding for the first time with me. Long story short, the Lord had set up and had me on a horse named Thunder for me to ride on. Our adventure would begin with a very inspiring motivational chat with Thunders owner named Crusty. He gave me some amazing tips to overcome fear! Before meeting Thunder, we had driven about 25 minutes the wrong way, which would lead to us meeting a black horse named African Queen (True story), which I refused to touch.
I began to wonder what God was up to, first leading me to a horse named African Queen, to later introducing me to a stronger looking horse named Thunder.
I will never forget how the Lord began to speak to me when I finally overcame my fear to touch and ride on Thunder. While I have always refered to my wife as my African Queen, The Lord wanted me to know that I would be His thunderous voice in this generation, and I must be courageous and not to be afraid.
Reminded by Job 37:5-
God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.
The next time you find yourself in a fearful situation…caught in a thunderstorm, remember that you are loved by a God who thunders with His voice wondrously, doing great things which we cannot comprehend.
